Hi there!

It’s been over a year since I’ve posted new content on this blog, and I’ve been feeling the itch to write something. But, I’m moving my content over to Substack. The reasons for this:

• cost: in order to use plug-ins like adding footnotes (for an example), I’m required to upgrade to creator status on WordPress. Since I don’t monetize my content, that seems like a lot of investment ($20 a month), for minor things.
• newsletter format: I really like the content that I’m seeing/subscribing to on Substack and the fact that when you subscribe it just goes to your email. That feels so much simpler to me.
• not as niche. I feel like blogs are really about creating consistent content and I’m not that consistent. I like to talk about books and poetry, but also baking and film and history and I want more flexibility
• browser issues: I don’t know why, but WordPress has not been working for me very well on Firefox (which is my normal browser. It’s having all kinds of issues and that’s not very motivating….

My content on Substack will be free. I’m not currently interested in monetizing anything. If I do in the future, it would be for a workshop or something specific like that.

Long story short, if you’re interested in reading chatty posts about writing, poetry, film, history, arts/crafts, books, and those kinds of things, that’s where I’ll be. Here’s a link to my first substantive post, which I think gives a pretty good idea of what I’m going to be writing.
